Thoughts, Tips and Feature Weddings
Lindsay & Shane’s Laid Back Downtown Wedding
We LOVE everything about restaurant weddings - the vibes, the existing decor, the fabulous food and drink AND excellent service. Last fall we planned an intimate, downtown wedding featuring a neutral palette with industrial touches. Ashley and Leo’s Colourful Museum Wedding
As a wedding planner, Ashley and Leo’s wedding is one of those celebrations you dream of planning, and lucky for us, our dream came true last summer! Together, we planned a celebration bold in style and bright in colour. Our palette of tangerine orange, sage green, lavender, and blush was present in every detail across the ceremony and reception at the Manitoba Museum.
We wanted to recap all the design moments from this wedding that helped create the ‘wow’ factor and show how you can incorporate colour AND enjoy an elegant, timeless celebration. Keep reading to learn more!
Are You Ready For An Outdoor Wedding?
When you think about outdoor weddings, you might think about a day of fun and memories. Guests and couples alike benefit from fresh air, increased capacity, and ease of access. Not to mention the freedom you have when it comes to floor planning and activating different spaces. No walls, no limitations!
But, let’s be honest. When you think about outdoor weddings, you might also think: risk.
Hannah & Sam’s Upscale & Modern Wedding

Why We Love Winter Weddings
The cozy atmosphere and romantic lighting always inspires us as we plan and design for our winter wedding clients. Here’s a list of some of the benefits of hosting a winter wedding:
Katie & Rob’s Sleek & Monochrome Wedding
The Winnipeg Art Gallery is one of our favourite venues, and we are pleased to feature a striking wedding we planned and designed this past summer. Click here to read all about Katie & Rob’s sleek and monochrome wedding.
Marlee & Mitch’s Elegant Spring Wedding
The 2023 wedding season is coming to an end and we’ve been involved in some fabulous celebrations this year. We kicked off our season with a spectacular spring wedding for Marlee and Mitch at The Gates on Roblin in the Grand Ballroom. We wanted to highlight Marlee and Mitch’s celebration featuring lots of florals and a gorgeous palette of muted whites and greys, along with pops of blush, mauve and gold elements. Read all about their elegant, spring inspired wedding, here.
Jenna & Justin’s Romantic Summer Wedding
Jenna and Justin were such a fun and sweet couple we had the pleasure to work with last year. They got married pool side on the roof of the Delta Hotel in downtown Winnipeg, followed by a gorgeous reception in the Delta ballroom. All these beautiful photos were taken by Picture and Poet.
Raezavel & Jarryd’s Celestial Inspired Wedding
As the 2022 wedding season comes to a close, we are reflecting on all the beautiful weddings we created this year. Raezavel and Jarryd’s Celestial Night wedding was so unique we felt it deserved a feature in today’s blog. Read all about their intimate and gorgeous wedding here.

Vendor Communication 101
With restrictions easing and wedding season on the horizon, email volume is increasing significantly for all wedding vendors, (CUE that flooded inbox)! One of the (many) advantages of a wedding planner is their ability to coordinate all vendor communications on behalf of a client and build a detailed itinerary based on all prior correspondence. If I am not emailing a vendor directly, I always ask my clients to cc me on messages to ensure I am looped into the latest updates. I find every vendor has a very different communication style and some don’t respond regularly which can create much stress for couples when they are not working with a wedding planner. If you are taking on most of the vendor communications on your own, I’ve assembled a list of recommendations as you detail your wedding day plans this season.
Uninviting Children to Your Wedding: Do’s & Don’t’s
We are deep into planning our 2022 season and many of our couples are considering an adults-only wedding reception due to capacity, budget or personal preference. Your wedding guest list is ultimately up to you, so if you want a child-free celebration, you're completely welcome to it, (tons of couples choose to). That said, anyone planning an adults-only wedding tends to run into a few sticky issues, from invitation wording questions to dealing with guests who won't get the message. My best advice is to be honest, yet tactful. This can be difficult to explain to parents and family members without hurting anyone’s feelings, so be sure to follow these important etiquette tips as you finalize your guest list.
2022 Wedding Trends
2022 is here and so is the wedding boom. The Bridal Theory estimates over 2.5 million weddings will take place this year – the most amount of weddings since 1984! The pandemic isn’t over, but celebrations are back and we are so excited to see a record number of beautiful and unique wedding celebrations this year, all driven by a return to party-mode. We are here for it, and know you are too! From interactive entertainment to contemporary rentals, check out some trends you can expect to see this year in the world of weddings.
Elizabeth & Jon’s Pop-Up Style Wedding
The pandemic has given way to a surge in small weddings and we hope this trend doesn’t go away anytime soon. As all the photos and video continue to pour in from an amazing summer season, we wanted to showcase a very special intimate wedding we were delighted to be a part of this past summer.

5 Tips for Planning Your Wedding Amidst Covid
It is a strange time to be planning your wedding right now. Each province is entering its own re-opening phases and while we remain hopeful and optimistic, couples continue to contend with ongoing limitations, including travel bans, gathering restrictions and local business closures. It seems more difficult than ever to understand HOW to plan a wedding in 2021. Here are some recommendations for couples planning to get hitched this summer.

A GUIDE TO DOWNSIZING YOUR WEDDING
It is no secret COVID has altered wedding plans for so many 2021 couples. Rather than postpone multiple times, many couples have opted to proceed, albeit with a reduced guest list based on current provincial restrictions. Scaling back your guest list may seem like the impossible task, but we have some recommendations to help keep the planning (and re-planning) process smooth and help execute a safe and beautiful scaled down event.

MY FAVOURITE WINNIPEG VENUES (under 100 people)
Searching for the perfect venue is hard. It’s the foundation, (literally) for your wedding and one of the biggest decisions you will make during your wedding planning journey. In the past, I’ve shared my favourite venues over 200 people but in light of all the wonderful small weddings we get to be a part of lately, I decided to share my favourite venues ideal for weddings with 100 guests or less.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE
Welcome to the new @allimaevents website, everyone! When I realized we were celebrating 6 years of business in Winnipeg this summer, I knew it was time to acknowledge the anniversary with a new site so – voila! It is no secret, it has been a difficult year for everyone and the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard with the effects of event cancellations, postponements and travel restrictions. Creating this site over the last year has honestly been therapeutic for me. It provided a creative outlet and something to be proud of during a very uncertain time.
EMCEE 101
As a wedding planner, it is my job to make EVERYONE look and feel their best on a wedding day, and emcees are no exception. Many people underestimate the importance of an emcee, but emcees have the power to hinder or enhance any event and require one on one attention just like all vendors.
