WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE
Welcome to the new @allimaevents website, everyone! When I realized we were celebrating 6 years of business in Winnipeg this year, I knew it was time to acknowledge the anniversary with a new site so – voila! It is no secret, it has been a difficult year for everyone and the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard with the effects of event cancellations, postponements and travel restrictions. Creating this site over the last six months has honestly been therapeutic for me. It provided a creative outlet and something to be proud of during a very uncertain time.
They say it takes a village and this project is no exception. Believe it or not, the website has been in the works since last December (pre covid), I sat down with my dear (and very talented) pal, @thetrendyfiles to work on the new site layout and plan the website’s photoshoot and creative direction. I also enlisted the help of the dream team Nic & Kourtney @KreateMedia to produce our opening video and I was blown away at their talent in capturing my passion for creating memories for my clients – I can’t thank them enough! I always aim to have a few styled shoots under my belt each year and this shoot served multiple purposes - the website photoshoot was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with leading Winnipeg wedding vendors including fellow planner Connie from @HarlowEvents. Typically, photo shoots don’t involve multiple planners, but Connie and thought – why NOT? We were both looking for new social media content and anyone who has done a photo shoot knows how much work it is – as a collaboration we would have a more manageable workload as we coordinated the shoot day with our vendor team. We decided to take it one step further and designed a concept of a ‘table wars’ – Connie vs. Alli. This included competing tablescapes that demonstrated an eye for design, both very different but also both cohesive. I am a visual learner and educator – I wanted this website to be heavily focused on photo and video and the table scapes over the top in terms of florals mixed with pattern and texture. Take a scroll and check out these #BTS shots of us in action!
We loved the idea of arranging our tables side by side to see the contrasting elements! Connie’s table was monochrome dream with dried and bleached foliage and blooms while mine was dark, pulling in dried elements but also focusing on pops of burgundy and red. We had so much fun with the set up and taking direction from fab photographer @AimeeDeLaLandePhotography for both posed and candid shots at our respective tables!
I am always looking for ‘outside the box’ ideas to present at my photo shoots and I asked Connie – what if instead of traditional table linens, we use temporary adhesive to cover our tables with some bold prints as a unique base? We found TONS of amazing options on wayfair and I landed on this red and black print to compliment the blooms in the bud vases and on the geo vase. I wanted every other piece to be very neutral and was set on BLACK wine glasses. These were harder to find that I thought but eventually found these on amazon (and now I have a new set of wine glasses – win/win)! The round acrylic menus from laser all the things was a great compliment to the table.
I love this wide shot of the table surrounded by the modern floor to ceiling windows and concrete floor. The clear infinity chairs perfectly pulled together the look with some of the acrylic accent pieces.
Mia from Two Fold Paper Co. designed our black and white invitations. We used extra table print as the envelope liner and designed the invitation out of acrylic as well. Menus were vellum which is a huge trend in 2020 stationery!
I also need to take a moment and give a shout out to our model (and former Alli Mae Bride), Lindsay. She ROCKED her bridal look and it was a blast to work with her and her husband Matt on this. Also – THIS BOUQUET. Easily one of my all time favorites, Floral Fixx designed this with architecture, variety and it was gorgeous! All the dried bits were light as a feather and we couldn’t put it down! Matt wore a black velvet jacket c/o Eph Apparel to compliment Lindsay’s classic gown. We flanked the couple with gold geo stands and three stunning arrangements to tie in the look of the bouquet.
We outfitted Lindsay and Matt in TWO looks. The one pictured above is look #2. Lindsay rocked this Pronovious sheath gown from Bliss Bridal Boutique and Matt looked dapper in a navy blue suit / bow tie combo from Eph. I for one LOVE working with REAL couples on my photo shoots. Lindsay and Matt in particular are SO sweet with one another, (we were all swooning when these photo were taken)!
