2021 WEDDING TRENDS
Farewell 2020! We have a lot to look forward to in 2021; so much so that I am sharing this post a little earlier than usual. Blogging about wedding trends is turning into a bit of an annual tradition at AME and the truth is, we are so excited to celebrate many beautiful and unique wedding celebrations next year. From intimate gatherings to bold backdrops, check out what you can expect to see next year in the world of weddings.
WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE
Welcome to the new @allimaevents website, everyone! When I realized we were celebrating 6 years of business in Winnipeg this summer, I knew it was time to acknowledge the anniversary with a new site so – voila! It is no secret, it has been a difficult year for everyone and the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard with the effects of event cancellations, postponements and travel restrictions. Creating this site over the last year has honestly been therapeutic for me. It provided a creative outlet and something to be proud of during a very uncertain time.
EMCEE 101
As a wedding planner, it is my job to make EVERYONE look and feel their best on a wedding day, and emcees are no exception. Many people underestimate the importance of an emcee, but emcees have the power to hinder or enhance any event and require one on one attention just like all vendors.
HOW THE BEST WEDDING AND EVENT PLANNERS ARE STAYING CREATIVELY INSPIRED
So, it’s been real. The Wedding and Events Industry has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and Event Planners are surely feeling it. But, with years of experience in this business of planning, designing, executing and maintaining relations with clients, Event Planners have shown to be resilient and proactive in responding to the ever-changing environment that we have found ourselves in.
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!
No better time than now! It is no secret the wedding and events industry is facing a huge shift. The current global environment is producing savvier and more cautious couples who still want to get married, but likely with changed values. And we want to help!

T’is the time of the year for reflection and celebration and I am all smiles thinking about our 2019 weddings and the moments we’ve been a part of! FLORAL 101
From sourcing, pricing, designing and caring for flowers, the topic remains a mystery to most people, so I thought it would be helpful to share a little “floral 101” today! The following information has been adapted from an information session I attended by local wholesaler Floral Supply and knowledge from my personal experience coordinating and handling blooms on a wedding day.
FAVORITE WINNIPEG VENUES {over 200 people}
Searching for the perfect venue is hard. It’s the foundation, (literally) for your wedding and one of the biggest decisions you will make during your wedding planning journey. Many historic homes, garden sanctuaries and smaller museum sites have capacities limited to 150 or fewer persons and in mid-size markets like Winnipeg, finding a venue can be particularly difficult if your wedding guest list exceeds 200 people.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A WEDDING PLANNER
In the wedding industry (particularly in the Manitoba market), the period of October to March corresponding with the Christmas/Valentine’s holidays are BIG for bookings. I’ve gone into many reasons WHY to hire a wedding planner but in the early stages of your search, it’s important to have a list of what to look for in the same way you’d have checklists for your DJ, a photographer or a florist. Here is my recommended list of considerations as you search for your wedding planner.
CONSIDERING LITTLE ONES IN YOUR WEDDING PARTY
To include children or not to include children in your wedding party? Your wedding day is full of memorable and exciting moments and the result of hours and hours of careful planning and no one wants it ruined by a screaming toddler. This doesn’t mean you have to rule out having children in your wedding party entirely but I have some recommendations to make children more comfortable at your wedding and avoid any melt downs as much as possible.

LOOK GOOD DANCING AT YOUR WEDDING
For many couples, the thought of dancing in front of 100+ of your nearest and dearest can cause minor heart palpitations leading up to the big day. Have no fear, I have some quick tips to look good dancing at your wedding!
5 WAYS TO ADD PERSONAL TOUCHES TO YOUR WEDDING
Social media feeds are overrun with wedding inspiration and it almost seems as if there is nothing original when it comes to weddings. Every couple wants to give their guests a unique experience but it can seem like quite a challenge in the beginning. I always tell my clients the strategy to make your wedding stand out is to make it meaningful by considering all your favourite things as a couple in the early stages of planning.
WEDDING EMERGENCY KIT MUST-HAVES
My couples always get a kick out of my massive emergency kit bag, and I am continually adding to it. Nothing says ‘prepared’ more than a suitcase filled with medical kits, apparel and beauty must-haves. Below, I assembled a handy check list of items (and corresponding categories) you should consider packing on your wedding day.
ALTERNATIVE WEDDING DATES
I am a big fan of mixing it up when it comes to days of the week and seasons of the year to host a wedding. With Manitoba’s short summer, the wedding season rush down the aisle historically starts the first weekend of May and quiets down by Thanksgiving. Of course, July is the most popular along with those very-special-never-happening-again novelty dates, (think 12.12.12), but what about the other four thousand couples who didn’t manage to snag a ‘prime’ date? Lately, I am seeing a spike in ‘off-season’ wedding inquiries and I have to say, I applaud my couples who are open to different options. There are many reasons for a not so ‘off’ season anymore, including limited venue availability, special rates for ‘off-season’ bookings and importantly, a couple’s personal availability depending on lifestyle and profession. If you are struggling around booking a wedding date, consider these alternative options.
DO WE HAVE TO HAVE A WEDDING REHEARSAL?
The short answer is YES! Without a rehearsal you run the risk of a very disorganized wedding ceremony.
