Olivia & Ian’s Romantic and Elegant Art Gallery Wedding

Olivia and Ian’s wedding was a grand affair, featuring plentiful all white blooms, elegant table details and pops of black to create a chic and romantic celebration, captured beautifully by Bennett Murphy Photography.  Today, we are thrilled to share all the details of Olivia and Ian’s elegant wedding at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

The morning of their wedding, the couple got ready at the Alt Hotel. The bride, glowing with anticipation, spent the morning with the team from Prep and her wedding party while nearby, her soon-to-be husband was captured making quite an entrance!  Bennett captured the delicate lace details of the dress, the shimmering wedding bands resting on a velvet cushion, and the bouquet of fluffy roses and peonies.  We also allotted time in the schedule for the bridesmaids ‘reveal’ with Olivia moments before the group departed to the ceremony.

At our ceremony, we followed a sleek and simple look as Simply Perfect Decor placed four acrylic stands near the altar, each topped with a grand white floral arrangement by Geranium Lake Botanicals. We placed the stands at the end of the aisle along with a soft white drape, a cascading white aisle runner and candles lining the stairs. Ian saw Olivia for the first time as string musicians played the twenty person wedding party down the aisle, before it was her turn!  Ian’s Uncle presided over the ceremony as the guests looked on and the couple recited their own vows. After the ceremony concluded, the newlyweds made their grand exit in front of their guests.

Following the ceremony, guests headed to the Skylight Gallery at the Winnipeg Art Gallery for cocktail hour, while the couple went to the WAG rooftop for portraits with their family and wedding party. The cocktail hour featured music from DJ Keesh and signature cocktails named after the couple’s nicknames; a whiskey based option ‘The Dunc’ for him and vodka grapefruit drink, ‘The OJ’ after her! A custom sign featured the cocktail bar along with custom stir sticks on the bar by Crafty Creations. We LOVE how the wedding party portraits turned out!

Following the cocktail reception, guests moved down the grand staircase to the Main Hall for dinner and dancing. Playing on the dramatic white and black palette, we wanted to create a WOW worthy and unique table scape look for Olivia, Ian and their guests through the simple contrast of all black and white table details and stationery. The floor plan featured a mix of long and round tables for added visual interest with the long tables designed all black and the round tables all white.

In order to keep the guest tables a surprise, Simply Perfect suspended a white voile drape to cover the entrance of the main gallery upon guest arrival and then opened the drape as reception started.  The entrance featured black acrylic signage and a custom card box by Crafty Creations.

We used a mix of black assorted vessels from Something Borrowed on the long tables and clusters of all white and clear ribbed vessels and candles on the round tables. All tables had acrylic chairs and clear beaded charger plates to create cohesion, along with the most darling custom ribbon place cards by Peg City Calligraphy.

Olivia and Ian were seated at a specialty glass and gold table with four members of their wedding party. We placed large floral arrangements on either side of the table along with pillar holders filled with battery powered candles. Beside the head table was the couples cutting cake by Sweets To Go By Lily.

The couple made their grand entrance through the white drape, and enjoyed their first dance as a married couple followed by the energetic (and choreographed) Father / Daughter dance to a mash up of Stevie Wonder / Bob Marley. Olivia and Ian kept up the energy and fun atmosphere and as the reception neared its end, the newlyweds grinned mischievously before breaking into a table dash, weaving through their cheering guests to personally thank everyone for being part of their special day. Laughter and clinking glasses filled the air as they hugged friends and family, their joy contagious as their photographer Bennett Murphy snapped photos of the couple with each table. Just when everyone thought the night was winding down, the bridesmaids sprang into action, surprising the crowd with a choreographed dance that blended sass and flair, earning wild applause and even some tears of laughter. The night ended on a moody, cinematic note as the couple stepped into the venue’s vintage elevator, bathed in the soft glow of dim lighting. The photographer captured their shared glance—a perfect mix of exhaustion, love, and exhilaration—as the doors slid shut, sealing the memory of a night they’d never forget.
