Lauren & Seth’s Modern and Sophisticated Wedding

It is a new year and a new wedding season is fast approaching, but we wanted to take a moment to share images and details from a spectacular wedding we planned last spring. Lauren and Seth envisioned a sophisticated and contemporary wedding and in keeping with their vision, we helped create a celebration that was chic and streamlined, including white fluffy blooms, touches of soft blue and modern black and white details with lots of ambient lighting and acrylic accent pieces. Read all about their beautiful and modern wedding, below . Photos by Kamp Photography.

The team at Floral Fixx did a stellar job bringing Lauren’s floral vision to life. Lauren’s oval shaped bouquet featured white anemone, white ranunculus and, (lucky her) these gorgeous white peonies, which were perfectly in season at the time of the wedding. In order to incorporate a slight touch of blue, the florist included blue eryngium as a small accent in the bouquet along with dark, leafy greenery.  The bridesmaid’s bouquets complemented Laurens; a little heavier on the greenery and a small amount of white blooms. Seth’s boutonniere featured white ranunculus, blue eryngium and greens to match.

Lauren and Seth each prepared thoughtful gifts for their wedding party.  Seth had custom bobbleheads made for each Groomsmen and Lauren had beautiful pajamas and slippers ready for each Bridesmaid to wear during hair and makeup services. Before Lauren and the Bridesmaids departed for the first look, Lauren enjoyed a special moment with her Dad, (we love this idea by the way)! Whenever possible, we recommend taking a pause from all the wedding activities to enjoy the moment with those closest to you.

The couple headed to upper Fort Garry with their wedding parties for a private first look before the wedding party joined them for portraits. Following this, the group enjoyed cocktails at Smith; also the location of the couple’s first date.  We LOVE these candid photos of the group and shots of the couple on the grand staircase.

Later in the afternoon, the couple and their wedding party headed over to the convention centre, where our team was busy with final set up details for the ceremony and the reception. The York Ballroom’s sky high ceilings, wood detailing and modern aesthetic was the perfect venue for Lauren and Seth’s wedding day.  Easily the most high impact piece at the wedding was their stunning chuppah.  The 4 post acrylic structure was ordered in custom for their wedding, care of the team at Ornare Rentals.  What made the chuppah truly spectacular was the floral canopy, covering the entire 8 foot by 8 foot area. Included in the canopy, Floral Fixx suspended white roses and white and soft blue babies breath accents. We wanted to ensure guests had a great visual of this floral masterpiece, so we placed a few white uplights from Spark Rentals in each of the 4 corners of the chuppah and along the drape behind the couple to illuminate the structure!  We also placed clusters of calla lilies in front of the chuppah and on acrylic pedestals at the end of the aisle, finishing the look with a dramatic white aisle runner.

In our decor plans, we always make every attempt to maximize decor and feature high impact areas throughout the event. In Lauren and Seth’s case after the ceremony, we opened the drape directly behind the chuppah to reveal the head table. This way, the chuppah then framed the couple during dinner.  Lining the head table were elegant stemmed cylinders of various heights and a specialty silver linen and overlay from Planned Perfectly.

Mia from Twofold Paper Co. created this incredible stationery suite with the couple’s names embossed on the side as well as matching pieces in all shapes and sizes for their weekend events.  Mia carried the design across all parts of the wedding day details with digital welcome signage at the venue, these gorgeous round menus at every place setting, passed food signage and more.

We are all for unique seating displays which make for a great way to wow your guests AND leave a striking first impression upon arrival. For Lauren and Seth, we brought in over twenty acrylic cubes listing each guest name and table number and displayed them at the entrance of the venue. We stacked the cubes on one another for added interest and height and included touches of white anemone and greenery to tie in with the rest of the flowers.

We had so much fun planning the custom drinks and treats at this wedding with Lauren and Seth. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails in the foyer which featured a martini bar and plenty of tray-passed food while a string trio performed.  Following the cocktail hour, guests made their way inside the ballroom to a specialty bar which was equal parts elegant and fun.  This bar featured all the usual bar offerings plus a slurpee machine for the couple’s spiked slush signature cocktails: Rum and Coke for him and a Moscow Mule for her. Mia designed these specialty slurpee signs to fit on the machines as a nod to the couple’s love for 7-11 slurpees!  Above the slurpee machine we suspended a custom neon sign to finish the look.

Guests were seated at elegant round tables dressed in a silver matte linen. The tables featured alternating arrangements for added visual interest. Half the tables had calla lilies surrounded by stemmed votives and the other half featured these stunning crystal candelabras with tulips around the bases.  Custom name plate cookie favours sat on each place setting with a marble design, which doubled as a seating card AND a delicious treat! Look how gorgeous these black acrylic table numbers and bar signs turned out, by Liat from Peg City Calligraphy!

After dinner, guests enjoyed a grand sweets table featuring mini cakes and cannolis from De Luca’s and cakes and tortes from Baked Expectations. As a late night option, we offered a beef slider bar, fries and fresh mini donuts served in specialty black disposable serving boxes with custom napkins.

Jake and Jess from KAMP photography was fantastic as always.  He snuck the couple up to our favourite part of the Convention Centre, the top floor in the City View Ballroom for a few moments of photos during dinner. These ‘golden’ hour photos as the sun sets are always some of the best photos that come from a wedding day.

Following speeches, the couple had their first dance, ‘Your Song’, performed by the Big City All Star Band on this fabulous black and white checkered dance floor from Spark Rentals and enjoyed a rousing hora while their black and white photo booth was packed all night. Guests danced the night away to celebrate the newlyweds.

Lauren and Seth’s wedding day was sophisticated, modern and FUN! Mazel Tov Lauren and Seth!
