Rachel & Joel’s Relaxed and Beautiful Brunch Wedding

There are SO many things we love about a brunch wedding - the opportunity to soak in the full wedding day experience, the intimate vibes and of course the delicious food and drinks! Keep scrolling to read all about Rachel & Joel’s chic and intimate brunch wedding.

After meeting with Rachel and Joel, we explored a few venue options together and fell in love with Pauline. It’s a beautiful, new restaurant in downtown Winnipeg and the Parisian accents and touches of minimalist design created an elevated dining experience for the couple and their guests.

We envisioned a rich palette with gold hues and black as our base for much of the furniture and accent pieces. Starting with the invitation suite and wedding day stationery care of Mia from Twofold Paper Co. We incorporated cream and deep green into the suite with subtle floral motifs and a vintage inspired border.  We carried this design throughout the wedding day stationery, including a statement layered seating chart and we layered flowers and greenery along the base.

Rachel’s bouquet from Juniper Jayne also reflected colours in the palette and was imperfect, colourful, and textural. We loved these first look and bridal portraits capturing the bouquet in all its glory by Sinnika Hearn Photography.

Our favourite part of the design was the minimal black pole chuppah with white floating anemones suspended between each of the four poles. It was a  beautiful mix of delicate and dramatic to complement the warmth and modernity of the private dining room with mismatched chairs for guest seating.

We wanted to give Rachel and Joel ample opportunity to savour the day together, and made sure to schedule moments throughout the day just for them.  We started earlier in the day with the couple’s first look in the restaurant. They had an opportunity for portraits AND got a sneak peek at the decor before family and guest arrival.

We treated guests to a pre ceremony cocktail reception in the lounge. We offered guests assorted mamosas and savoury appetizers like mushroom tarts, mini avocado toast and chicken skewers, before entering the private dining room for the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the couple and their immediate family sat around the grand harvest table in the nearby study to observe the bedeken, presided over by the Brides Aunt.  This created another opportunity for the couple to enjoy the most meaningful part of the wedding day with their closest family present while they signed their marriage license and ketubah.

When it was time for the ceremony, the couple were escorted down the aisle by their parents.

After the ceremony, guests move out of the private dining room and into Pauline Restaurant for brunch and toasts. This space contrasted the modernity of the ceremony and followed more of a vintage and Parisian aesthetic through the use of a soft, white entrance drape, vintage gold frames and assorted stem ribbed bud vases.

Guests sat at cafe style tables, with custom menus and enjoyed table side service, featuring a variety of brunch options, including brioche french toast and chicken and waffles and specialty coffees.

Following brunch and toasts, guests made their way back to the Private Dining Room for the dessert reception.  The couple’s cutting cake was a sprinkle cake, served to guests along with several assorted cakes and tortes care of Baked Expectations.

The couple enjoyed their first dance as a married couple, along with dances with their parents, followed by the Horah.

After visiting with their guests and eating until their hearts’ content, the couple departed later that afternoon for portraits at the Forks to conclude their fabulous wedding celebrations!  We just adored every minute of this day and look forward to planning more brunch weddings in the future!

Thanks to all our vendor partners who helped bring this beautiful wedding to life!
